Love Jesus and Be Nice to People
“Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
I love this verse, it’s probably one of my favorites. I heard a speaker at a Junior High Summer Camp a few years ago sum it up as “Love Jesus and be nice to people”. I know that’s a super simple way to think about it, but it’s so true. This is what Jesus tells us are the 2 most important things in life, and I’ve found them to sometimes be the most challenging. Especially the “be nice to people” part. It’s easy to be nice to my friends and the people I like, but I’m not very good at being nice to people that frustrate me. But I don’t want that to continue, and this verse is a great reminder of that. I know God is changing my heart, and I am a work in progress. Though I know I’ll never be perfect at this, it’s my prayer that my life will be as true a reflection of this verse as humanly possible.
